Aloha, 2014!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year.

I am back in my shared University house in Plymouth now after a lovely 2 weeks at home in Wiltshire. I haven't spent that much time at home in ages so I really enjoyed being there and seeing everyone; especially my Nan :) Joe and I spent Christmas apart (again!) but were happily reunited after 10 days on 30th December 2013 for New Year.

Well, it's 2014!! For some strange reason, I'm finding it really easy to adjust to writing 2014 on pieces of paper and forms instead of 2013. It's usually at least a week of doing this before it finally sinks in:

"6th January 2013 2014"

Sorry this post is not the most cheery one I've ever written but I thought I would tell you why I'm not looking forward to 2014.

Yes I know I am going to The Gambia next month and believe me I'm very excited about that but 3 weeks after, Joseph will be away in Malaysia for 3 weeks. I'm going to be useless without him around the house and generally making me smile. I know that it's an amazing travelling opportunity for him though so I am very proud of him for doing it. He'll be carrying out never-done-before research on trees and plants in the rain forests. (Go Joe!) followed by a week of independent travelling with some course friends.

I also have science exams; essay deadlines; a court case (which I am very nervous about- It's for a car accident I had 5 years ago!) and I'm going to be on a strict diet and exercise plan because the pressure on my back from putting on weight is making me feel double my age and it's bringing my confidence down, massively. I cannot wait to have my old self back though with more energy and a slimmer/healthier physique. I'm hoping to do a week of Jason Vale's 5 day juicing detox to help me on my way at some point.

Speaking of age, I am turning 24 this month and another saddening part of 2014 is that I am not celebrating my birthday. I'm sure I'll have a couple of Archers and Lemonade's but apart from that, no partying, no meal out with friends, no cake (remember the diet I was talking about) so all in all... 2014 is not quite my year! I know 2015 will be good though as it's graduation year and hopefully the year I start a PGCE somewhere.

So yeah, the areas highlighted in red are the reasons why I am not thinking more positively about what is yet to come in my 2014. After revising what I was about to post before I published it, I decided to add in the bits in blue which are the ones I AM looking forward to.

Once again, thank you all for reading and let me know in the comments below how your holidays were and what you are looking forward to most in twenty fourteen :D
